" SGT. Stubby, An American Hero" is based on a true story about a "doughboy", of the Army, Robert Conroy who's life changes completely when he finds a stray, stubby tailed dog wandering into a training camp in New Haven, Conn. Conroy gives his animal friend a meal and a name.
As Robert Conroy and his new friend, a French soldier named Gaston Baptiste, pass through rough terrain and trenches of France, so does Stubby.
Stubby weighs around 25 lbs. and he is a Boston Terrier who loves to eat and play. Stubby is very protective of his humans and he is very courageous. As Stubby enters WW1 he becomes the first dog to be promoted to the rank of Sergeant in the US Army and the most decorated dog in US history.
