Review/Giveaway Closed!
Would you like real Japanese clothing without having the expense of traveling to Japan? Then you need to check out Jade Rabbit Boutique.
The owner of this awesome boutique will gladly help you out with some cool things. She travels to Japan about every 6 mths. to bring back different merchandise. Jade Rabbit Boutique is based on the Japanese line of clothing and accessories.
All of the clothing and accessories are authentic Harajukua and Shibuya street clothes! Mary, the shop owner personally goes from shop to shop, boutique to boutique and mall to mall, looking for the cutest and most Engrishy shirts and accessories she can find.
(^○^)オ(^▽^)ハ(^0^)ツ〜!!
I talked with Mary, via e-mail, and she explained that the Japanese like American words and they will buy clothing that has it on it. They don't understand the meanings of our words but they recognise them as English, or Engrish, as they say it, and they love our language so they buy the clothing. That's why the words on the shirts, and bags, and such make no sense at all to us or them.
Japanese youth think English is cool so designers just slap it on shirts, accessories, stationery, etc. The English isn't meant to be read; it's just part of the design - much like how we put kanji on stuff because we think it looks cool, but don't understand it.
What is "Engrish"? It is the Japanese honest attempt at English, but it normally goes humorously awry.
All the clothing sizes listed are Japanese, which are smaller than American sizes! "Lセイズ" (Large size) is actually a US Medium and "Mセイズ" (Medium size) translates to a US Small.
Mary try's her best to keep the original Japanese price and brand tags with the shirt, although sometimes the clerks remove them when she's not looking. ;)
Please keep in mind that there are only ONE of each shirt. Most Japanese stores generally don't carry shirts in multiple sizes and colors. If you like it and want it, get it - she is unable to buy more of a particular shirt the next time she goes back to Japan.
