At the age of 40 I have decided I need to go back to school. I am through raising children and with tons of time on my hands I figured I might as well do something with my life. Nursing is what seems to interest me. I checked with our local college and they only except 15 students per semester and that is if I qualified for their program. This delemia brought me to looking at online colleges.
The advantages of the online colleges are several:
People can earn their degree while still working full or part-time.
An online degree program allows you to study on your own time with less cost.
Students can avoid the cost of room and board associated with campus programs and also save on transportation, as they don't need to commute to class.
While searching for the online degree programs in nursing I found a few online schools. One is the University of Phoenix. This school offers:
Accredited online and campus programs in business, communications, criminal justice, education, health care, psychology, and technology. The University of Phoenix offers an education that balances the life of a working student. This just may be the college I choose.
Being a single parent and with a low income I could really use help with paying for these classes and books. I searched and found the application to see if I qualify for government money. The site I looked at was http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ Here you can send all your info in and they will notify you online about whether or not you qualify.
Online classes and my being able to still work may just be what I am looking for. Nursing would be a life long dream of mine and through these classes I will hopefully be able to acheive this goal.

Must be the age!! I am also returning to school..100% online. It is scary, but we can do it!!
ReplyDeleteBTW- how is it that you are 40, but list "married 32 years????"
LOL! I have to write an article for a paying company. It doesnt necessarily mean all the parts are true I just have to write about the main issue, which in this case was online colleges. I am really 50 but just hate writing that down lol!
