Iris and the Dragonflies is a great book about a girl with a special ability to talk to Dragonflies. The Dragonflies tell Iris she is their long awaited Dragon Seer and they are really Dragons. Iris takes the first step toward her destiny by challenging the greedy mayor who wants to destroy the local creek, the dragonflies' home. But evil never works alone and a man with his own mysterious connections to Iris will do anything to stop her.
Iris and her family visit Ireland. While there she experiences new friends and wonderful stories from her grandmother. Iris' grandmother knows many secrets about the Dragonflies. There she finds she possesses powers she never dreamed of. While at her grandmother's home she also finds hidden, in the hollow of a cliff, a small box containing a dragon tooth. Her grandmother explains to her the "old ways." The grandmother also teaches Iris the strange, and by our standards, rather exotic ways people had to the land; to our Mother Earth.
Iris loves learning all about her grandmother and her grandmothers sister. She even sees visions of her great aunt and the grandmother when they are younger. The visions, and Iris and her sister Bella, are so similar that it is amazing.
Iris and the Dragonflies is a reality-based fantasy ideal for ages 11+. It is a story about friendship, nature and the magic that surrounds us.
Join Iris and her friends, the Dragonflies, as they try to save our Earth from the destruction of all the madness.
Rosemary Danielis has a way with words and storytelling. She captures your attention and never lets go till the very end. I recommend this book to anyone with a young girl, a classroom or homeschool.
Right now for every book sold, Rosemary will give a less fortunate girl a book of their own. What a great way to spread Christmas spirit!
