Have you ever wanted to be someone else?  Most likely you have, little girls really seem to have this problem more than boys, but boys would love to be the best quarterback on the team or king of the Prom too.  But, whatever, God made us all different and with much thought and reason, How boring would this world be if we all looked alike, talked alike, dressed alike, lived alike?  It would become very dull and blah.
In this darling book by  Yvette Grove, she helps tell the story of every families - Lily.
The book is titled, "Lily's Deliciously Different Day and Lily wants to be like Jenna and her friends whom she thinks are perfectly.  Her mom tells her she is perfect like she is.  The next morning when Lily awoke everything looked the same.  All her clothes looked alike.Lily notices the furniture looks all the same, so Lily begins to think her mom has played a joke on her.

But, then outside all the houses and the dogs and flowers and birds look all alike.
Lily headed to school and she meets her friend Desi.  Desi asks her why is the that bug following her, all of the sudden the hummingbird could talk and she says, "I'm not a bug, I'm Ruby!"  The girls get startled at the bird talking.  WOW! This day is really strange. At school everything looked the same. Lily's day was awful.

When Lily goes home she tells her mom about the horrible day and she realizes she caused all this problem because she wanted to be like everyone else and fit in.  Ruby tells Lily it is delicious to be different and necessary to work.
The next day everything was deliciously different and she loved it!  But, best of all Lily was herself and that was just fine by her.

This book really teaches us to ourselves, that we are made wonderfully and uniquely different for a reason.  It really helps build self esteem and for children to proud of who they are.
What a great book!  The illustrations are gorgeous and I love this book!
I received this book autographed by Yvette Groves herself!  Be sure and find this book on Amazon and purchase it for your child.  What a great book for children with disabilities.  Let them know they are made perfectly because they are different.
