Cookie Cutters & Sled Runners Childrens Book Review

I recently had my grandaughter read the cutest book ever - "Cookie Cutters & Sled Runners", by Natalie Rompella.  I am writing my review as told by my grandaughter, she said this book is about best friends, making new friends and learning that some kids can be completely different from each other.
Ana and Lily have just entered middle school and they are best friends.  Each year the school grade has the students pair up and show their talents, it is a big project.  Ana and Lily already have big dreams of writing their own cookbook and selling them when they are older.  They both love to cook.

Ana and Lily are also more than best friends, they know all about each other and never tell others their secrets.  Ana is a huge germaphobic, she can't stand germs, so she washes her hands several times a day before and after touching anything. Lily knows this and she totally understands her best friend and would never make fun of her for her germ problem.
School starts and the assignments are given, Ana and Lily can barely wait to begin, and then the teacher announces who will partner with whom, the girls had just assumed they would be together, but that isn't the case. Ana is partnered with the new girl from Alaska - Dasher.  Dasher wants to do the project on dog sledding!  Ewe! Ana doesn't want those slobbery dogs licking on her. Lily is happy with her partner and they begin writing out recipes that were Lily and Ana's and Ana gets so mad because those were their own recipes and they weren't meant to be shared!
Ana decides to come up with a plan, she will bake pancakes for all the people coming to watch Dasher and her dogs race.  Seems like a great plan until Dasher sprains her ankle.  This leaves Ana with a huge problem, how can she learn to mush when she can't stand the thought of those scary, sloppy dogs?
This book will teach your child about differences in people, anxiety and problems people can have, how to be friends with more than one person and how to not give up when things look like everything is bad.
"Cookie Cutters & Sled Runners" is a hardback book with 272 pages and adorable illustrations.  This book is published by Skyhorse Publishing.  I would recommend it for ages 10-13 and it can be purchased at Barnes & Noble, Indies and Amazon.com
My grandaugher loved this book and she said she hopes there will be a series of Ana and Lily books.  I agree!  Nothing is better for a child to do than read.  I push this on all the children in my life.  The world holds so much imagination and history and our children need to put down the video games and become readers. This is my opinion, but I do believe reading is fun and good for children.

*I received this book free of charge in exchange for a honest, written review.
*I was not monetarily compensated for this review.
*The opinions of this book are 100% my grandaughter's as told to me.
*Thank you Skyhorse for allowing me to be involved in another of your wonderful books!
