It is so easy for us to think that life for the famous people is so perfect. We don't ever consider that no matter the profession, be it actor, football player, race car driver ect..., they too are just ordinary people.
In her book, "Etched... Upon My Heart", Jill Kelly let's us all in on her personal life. Jill is married to the famous football player, Jim Kelly. Jim Kelly is a Hall Of Fame Quarterback and played for the Buffalo Bills. Jim gives all credit to their son, Hunter, for his inspiration.
Jill and Jim Kelly married and soon Jill gave birth to a daughter, Erin then Hunter and next Camryn. Hunter seemed to be fine until around 8mths. old, as Jill writes in her book, then things began to change for little Hunter. Hunter was diagnosed with Krabbe Disease. Hunter Kelly was given no more than three years to live after being diagnosed with Krabbe Disease, an inherited degenerative disorder of the central and peripheral nervous systems. The disease hinders development of the myelin sheath, a fatty covering that protects the brain's nerve fibers.
In Jill's book you will read of her strength in God to get her through the very hard times of watching her son become weaker and weaker. It is God's peace and love that helped Jill, and Jim, make it.
On Aug. 5,2005 little Hunter Kelly went to be with the Lord. No more in pain and disease free. This time in her life made Jill want to fight more for all children with this disease and to help prevent others from getting it. Although there is no cure for Krabbe's, Jim still went to Congress and lobbied that the state broaden its newborn screening program, a cause that also took him to Washington on behalf of improved nationwide testing.
Jim and Jill Kelly began a charity called, Hunter's Hope Foundation in 1997, which has raised more than $6 million and awarded more than $3.8 million to leukodystrophy and other neurological disease-related research.
Jill writes in her book with much love for her husband and 3 children. She is a strong willed person who believes in fighting for others. She and Jim live in Buffalo, NY, with their two daughters and three dogs. Hunter’s Hope Foundation can be found online at www.HuntersHope.org. Jill is also the author of Without A Word.
