The Sparkle Box Book review/giveaway

The Sparkle Box Book
review/giveaway

Christmas is such a special time of year for my family.  We celebrate with lots of family and friends, keeping old traditions and beginning new ones.  With 9 grandchildren of my own and 10 other nieces and nephews, there is always gift giving and gift exchanging games.  We all love the idea of the gift giving, after all isn't giving what happened at the first Christmas and the 3 Wise Men presented the newborn babe with gifts?

The Sparkle Box is a wonderful children's book written by Jill Hardie, that teaches your children about giving back to Jesus.  In the story Sam questions his mom about a shiny gift wrapped box that is setting underneath the Christmas Tree.  Mom explains that they will open  the box on Christmas day and then Sam will understand it's meaning.  All through the weeks before Christmas, Sam sees his mom and dad add notes to the box.  Sam also learns, with a trip to the homeless shelter, what it means to help others less fortunate than himself. After seeing a homeless man on a bench in the freezing cold, Sam decides to give the man a pair of mittens and a candy bar that he bought with his own money.
Finally Christmas morning is here and Sam can hardly wait to see what is in the Sparkle Box. As Sam sits with his mom and dad they open the box and begin reading off the notes inside.  The notes tell things that they all did for others.  The food for the homeless and the mittens and candy bar are a few of the good deeds the family has done for others.  Mom explains to Sam that the Sparkle Box was full of gifts to Jesus and he loves it when we do for others because that is the gifts Jesus loves.
The Sparkle Box is a hardback book with beautiful illustrations.  This book comes with your very own Sparkle Box inside for you to fill up and give to Jesus every Christmas.
I believe this story really teaches your child the true meaning of Christmas.  Teaching them to give back to others in need and to give to Jesus on his birthday is what Christmas is all about.
I recommend The Sparkle Box become a new tradition with your family. The book is wonderfully written and illustrated making it a true pleasure to share with your family.
