"Can't Wait Willow", is a delightful children's book written by Christy Ziglar and beautifully illustrated by Luann Marten.  This book is the first in the new series of Shine Bright Kids.  If the name Ziglar rings a bell it is because Christy is the niece of the famous motivational speaker, Zig Ziglar. 

"Can't Wait Willow" is a book written to help children make good choices.  In the book, the Over-The-Top Circus is coming to town and Willow is very excited!  On the way to the, show Willow keeps getting distracted by things she can't turn down.  Willow buys ice cream, plays games, and does other things that uses up her Circus money.  Willow gets to the circus and realizes she is too late for the show and that she has spent all her money on other things.  The Ringmaster sees Willow is sad and he tells her to come back tomorrow for the next show and that she needs to ignore the enticing things on the way.  Willow does just as he says and ends up watching a great Circus show.

I love several things about this book.  First, the book cover is illustrated so great!  Some of the pictures are glittery and stand out on the page. The drawings on the cover and inside the book, are very eye catching to a child.  They really held my grandson's attention.

Second, the author added an extra attraction to the story : a star.  The star is all through the book and it is drawn to react with the situation of Willow's journey.  If she is happy the star is shown to be all perky and if the she makes mistakes, or is sad, the star will be laying flat.  It was fun to watch the star's reaction as the story begins and ends.

Lastly, I love the idea with which this story is based.  Helping children to say no can be hard.  As they read and listen to Willow's story it is easier for a child to understand.

This book is a definite favorite of my grandson's.  I have read it at least 10 times since last Friday.  Story time is a wonderful bonding time for me and my grandchildren and books such as, "Can't Wait Willow", make is a lot of fun.
