Most all of us know the Biblical story of Jonah and the Whale, but have you ever heard it from the whale's point of view? I just reviewed this wonderful book by Toy Schmidt and for sale by B H Kids Publishing., "Hey God, I've Got Some Guy Named Jonah In My Stomach And I Think I'm Going To Throw Up."
The story begins with the whale looking for food as he regularly does, when all of a sudden he feels something stuck in his throat and it tastes like dirt. The whale rushes to his doctor, Mr. Crab who tells him he has swallowed a human. "Oh, my! Why me?", the whale asks God. God tells the whale to be patient he has a plan for Jonah. The whale swims away and trys to hide from God's words but it doesn't work, he has to learn patience as well.
Jonah has to learn the message of obedience from God. And to learn this lesson he has to sit in the belly of a whale for 3 days. Jonah prays and prays to God asking for forgiveness because he didn't obey God's words.
Meanwhile, the whale doesn't like the taste of the human at all but he knows he must wait.
Suddenly, one day out comes Jonah! The whale spewed him onto the beach. Waiting has paid off for the whale. The whale is veru happy that he can now go back to eating his regular food of fish and other sea animals. Anything but a human!
This is a delightful story that will help teach your children that we all must listen and do as God asks. If we don't we will have bad things happen. Jonah learned his lesson and I'm sure he never wanted to be inside a whale's belly again just as the whale never wanted him there either.
I love this book and have read it over and over to my grandchildren. They are amazed at the story! I recommend you purchasing this book, avaiable on May 1, from B H Kids. They will love it!

That was really amusing! Things will truly go wrong if we do not follow God's plan for our life and instead choose to go our own way. God bless, Mimi! :-)
