I was allowed to review the book -"Persecuted" by Robin Parrish and I really enjoyed every minute of this book. This is a story of John Luther, a well known evangelist, who wants to share the Gospel with the world. Congress is out to prevent John from doing just that and they will stop at nothing to see that he does.
The US government wants a religious-equality bill to pass so that every religion will be equal to each other. John Luther knows that there is only one religion that God justifies and that is Christianity and religion should never be controlled by government. John stands in the way of the bill passing because he is spreading God's word all over the world which causes them to try and take John out.
John finds himself framed by the government when he is set up as the killer of a teenage girl. With nowhere to go, John is on the run as he tries to prove his innocence. Before the book is over, the government has killed the young girl, John's dad, John's friend William, innocent witnesses, an FBI agent, and many more. They have also killed the senator who issued the death of John Luther.
This book shows what our country could soon face with the government trying to take over our religion and how they want to push other religions onto Christians. John Luther proves he will not be silent and let this happen. He stands up for God and his beliefs even though his life is on the line.
I really found it hard to put this book down, it kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the whole story. I am a Christian who could see this sort of thing happening with our government any day. "Persecuted," is a great example of what Christians have had to face for thousands of years and if you believe God's word, it will continue until Christ returns.
I was able to ask Robin Parrish 2 questions about this book and here they are and the answers he gave:
1. Did you consult with God throughout the writing of this book?
"Yes, but maybe not in the sense that you mean. I feel like I'm never closer to God than when I'm writing. Because I know in my soul that I'm doing the thing he gave me a passion for and put me on this earth to do. It's like I can feel him smiling at me, like a proud papa."
"That said, this isn't my story. It's Daniel Lusko's story. He conceived of, wrote, and directed the movie. So I can't take credit for the whole thing or suggest that "God gave me this story." But he probably gave me the ideas I used to expand and enhance the story."
2. Do you believe, with the conditions of our world today, that the US will ever have a professed non-Christian as president?
"Seems inevitable, doesn't it? Whether it's two years from now or two hundred, it's bound to happen. And I'm sure the world at large will celebrate it as a glorious day, tossing around words like "inclusiveness," "diversity," and "tolerance" ad nauseum."
"I won't be one of them."
I love the answers! It was exciting to know Robin answered "my" questions! I feel the same way as his answer to question #2.
I highly recommend this book. It will not let you down on the suspense and I know you will not be disappointed with the story.
