It's Back to School time and this means your child gets to be exposed to all kinds of goodies like- the flu, stomach viruses and head lice. Head lice are horrible little parasites that infest the heads of children and adults everywhere. These bugs don't care who you are, where you are from, or how clean your body and hair is - actually they prefer clean hair because it is easier to attach to. These nasty things just need your blood to survive. They live on the scalps because it is warm and humid and can live on the head for about 30 days and lay up to 8 eggs a day.
Lice do not jump or fly - they crawl from one head to another. Children are more infected than adults because they have more head to head contact in places such as schools and day cares. Spreading of lice occurs when the person with head lice shares brushes, combs, hair ties or on towels and backpacks.
