There are so many to choose from. I know you will love what you find.
I reviewed the book Addie Slaughter:The Girl Who Met Geronimo. This is a wonderful true story about a girl named Addie Slaughter. Addie is 5 years old when her daddy sends for her, her mother, and 1 year old brother to leave Texas and come to Phoenix, Arizona. The 1800's were rough times and there were so many diseases that had no cure such as Smallpox. Addie and her mother and little brother all come down with the Smallpox. When they arrive in Arizona Addie's mom dies from the disease.
Mr. Slaughter is a good father and liked by everyone. He even becomes sheriff where he hunts robbers and one day he gets half his ear shot off. Mr. Slaughter re-marries and gives his two children a wonderful new mother. Addie loves her new mother.
Living on a big ranch is full of many explorations and fun times. Addie roams the ranch, hunts rattlesnakes and rides horses bareback.
One day an Indian by the name of Geronimo came to the ranch. Geronimo was a chief of the Chiricahua Apaches. Geronimo gave Addie's grandmother a wooden spoon and he gave Addie a necklace. He even bowed before Addie. A fierce warrior bowing to a girl was pretty exciting.
One day Addie meets a handsome young man named William Greene. William was a Dr. After visiting the ranch several times and courting Addie, William asks her to marry him. And she does.
Addie died in 1941 of a heart attack.
This book is a really great book told through the eyes of a young girl and her adventures on a large ranch in Arizona. Meeting Geronimo was a very exciting time in her life.
I believe most children will love reading this book. This book also comes with a curriculum guide for teachers. It would also be wonderful for anyone homeschooling.
The author of this book is Susan L.Krueger.
Visit the Five Star Book Nook and you will see a list of the books available. The genres available cover the gamut from cookbooks to children's books, mystery to financial guides, Westerns to science fiction and everything in-between.
In addition to receiving the generous discount, Book Nook Book Club participants also get email alerts notifying them when the newest Five Star titles are released and highlighting monthly featured author Q&A columns.
