"The Identical!" is a movie that was released to the public last summer, but will out on dvd beginning Janurary 15. I was fortunate enough to review this wonderful movie and I am even more grateful to get to offer a copy to one of my lucky readers.
This movie stars: Ashley Judd, Seth Green, Ray Liotta, and Blake Ryan -( as Ryan Wade). I loved this movie! The story begins with a poor family giving birth to twin boys. The father of the boys happens upon a tent revival and after hearing the sermon, he learns that the pastor and his wife are unable to have children. The father feels led by God to offer this couple one of their sons. This story takes place during the Great Depression when times were very hard. The story continues on as Ryan Wade finds himself confused about the career choice his father wants him to take in life--that of a preacher. Ryan hears Dexter Hemsley sing and he immediately loves his music and begins singing his songs. Everyone tells Ryan how much he looks and sings like Dexter. Finally, a music director runs across Ryan and offers him a job as the Identical. This is the singer who sings Dexter's songs across the nation.
Ryan marries and begins living a good life. One day after Ryan's dad becomes ill, he finds a letter telling the truth of his true identity. By this time Dexter has passed and so has his real mother. Ryan ends up meeting his real father, having twin boys himself and continuing a huge career as "The Identical".
This movie, the look and sound of Ryan Wade will make you think of Elvis Presley. I am a huge Elvis fan and I could see many similarities between Ryan Wade and Elvis. Even though the movie isn't suppose to be anything like Elvis' life, I believe you will see and hear it too.
"The Identical!" is a wonderful family film. There is no bad language or bad scenes. You will love the music and there are even clips of scenes that were cut from the movie. Rated PG and runs 107 min.
