"The Enchanted Sonata" Book Review

 " The Enchanted Sonata" is a wonderful story written by Heather Dixon Wallwork.  Based on the tale of the Nutcracker, this story takes you into the real reason the little man played the flute and mice and children followed him.  Clara Stahlbalm is a 15 year old pianists and she already has a future planned to marry the amazing Johann Kahler, the greatest piano player of that time.  
  One day Clara receives a book and a toy Nutcracker in the mail.  Clara lives with her mother and younger brother and she begins reading the story to them.  Clara becomes so involved in the reading of the book that before she realizes it she is thrown into the story, in the Kingdom of the Imperia.

  I recently worked with a wonderful company that supplied me with children's books, Waldmania!  They also just reached out to me about reviewing an amazing CD for children from the band Rainbow Rock Band.  On September 14, 2018 this cool band released the CD album, "Total Eclipse of the Rainbow" and it is so much fun to listen to.
  Singer/songwriter/educator, Dr. Kate Moran engages young listeners with her music while also teaching them letters, numbers and social development.  Kate said she hopes to provide teachers with a resource to use during circle time or with lesons that her songs also coordinate with.
  My favorite song is the "Rainbow Lullaby" which is perfect to play during school nap time, or at home during bedtime.This song is soft and comfy making any child ready for shut eye.

Julie Elias - "A Girl Like Me" CD Review/ Giveaway

   A few years ago Julie Elias was acting with small parts in shows such as, "Grey's Anatomy" and "CSI:NY" and even some good roles in bigger movies.  But, deep inside Julie knew something was missing.  Julie started praying to God for his direction in her life.  She even stated she would be obedient and wait for whatever he wanted her to do in her life.

  I can't pick a favorite song on this 14 song list album, but I would have to say my 2 most played songs are , "Broken Things" and "All In".  "Broken Things" speaks about not being worthy to enter Heaven, but hoping God will except us with all our brokenness.  It is beautiful.

Reba McEntire- "Sing It Now - Songs of Faith and Hope" CD Review/ Giveaway

  I received a wonderful CD from Capital Christian Marking by the artist Reba McEntire.  I was already a fan of Reba's country music, but this gospel album is amazing.  "Sing It Now- Songs of Faith and Hope" is awesome!
 This CD is full of old Highway Hymnals we sing at our little country church each Sunday.
Songs such as, "Softly and Tenderly", "In the Garden", "Amazing Grace",  "How Great Thou Art" and many more beautiful songs.  All these songs are sung delicately and sweet except when Reba speeds things up a little with the gospel hit, "Oh Happy Day".
  I could listen to these songs all day long.  I keep it in my CD player, in the car, and it stays on whenever I'm driving.  
 Trisha Yearwood and Kelly Clarkson join in with Reba on the song, "Softly and Tenderly."
 This album has 20 songs and one of them is Reba's latest hit song, "Back to God".  Listen to a clip of the song below:

Treasure Toons DVD Review/Giveaway

  

   FrontGate  has graciously allowed me to review a darling DVD about animated Scripture Songs. This DVD is perfect for ages 1- ? Because every child loves singing, there is really no age group that will not like this DVD.  I am 55 and I love singing along with the kids to these scripture songs.

"Live On Forever" CD by The Afters Review/Giveaway

  I just received an amazing new CD titled, "Live On Forever" from a Gospel group called, "The Afters" and what a talented bunch of God fearing, God trusting young men they are.
  Sometimes we all can be tested, but Deutoronemy tells us that God goes before and he will be with us always.  This band has faced some incredible battles.  A wife of one of the band member's has a friend who is battling stage 4 breast cancer and she has a family, their drummer had a brief health scare and one young woman from their worship group was hit and killed by an impaired driver.  All this together and then one of the band member's and his wife have an infant daughter die, it all seemed they were facing battles everywhere, but they would overcome them.  Together they wrote the song "Battles" and I love it so much!  Take a listen below:

Phil Wickham : "Children of God" CD Review

   Phil Wickham has a new album out titled, "Children of God".  This album is one of Wickham's most emotional and touching albums.  Songs such as "StarMaker" and "My All In All" will have you definitely feeling the touching hand of God in the lyrics and beautiful way Phil sings them.
  This album is loaded with songs that show complete praises to our loving God.  I went back and listened to many of my favorites over and over.
  Phil Wickham himself is a product of God's miracles.  In 2014, Phil didn't know if he would be able to ever sing again due to a vocal polyp.  To remove it meant Phil not speaking for months.  Very suddenly, Phil threw himself on the ground asking God for some peace and clarity.  He said all of the sudden he felt a strong sense of God's presence there with him, speaking to him.  God told Phil that his identity is not in what he did, but it's in who God says he is.  God said, "I am your father.You're my child. Trust me."   
  During Phil's recovery he began writing songs with a new sense of passion and freedom.  In, "Your Love Awakens Me" you can feel this passion and re-known strength.  And, yes Phil's throat was healed and good as ever.  He says he feels like he had been reawakened.
  I would give this 5 stars out of 5 stars.  It is a touching, comforting album with songs that make you feel alive in God's love.  I recommend you purchase this album and it can be found in all Christian music stores across the US..

Joy Williams CD-Venus Review

  If you have ever heard of The Civil Wars folk-rock group, then you most likely will recognize the name,  Joy Williams.  Joy went out on a limb to start her own  musical career after The Civil Wars broke up.  In this CD you will notice how Joy opens up about her life, fears, and disappointments.

  I was fortunate enough to hear all 11 songs on a download.  I certainly like all the songs, but I have 3 favorites:
1. Until The Levee Breaks
2. Till Forever
3. Welcome Home

 Joy sings about her journey out of darkness to become her own woman.  Venus is an album with life touching songs.  I am a big fan of folk music and this album is a new part of my collection.
