Music

Musical Education and Your Child

Did you know that children who study music and take music lessons, score higher on reading and math tests?  I homeschool my 5 year old grandson and music is a big part of my lesson plan.  Not only does it bring out the creative side of my grandson, Brinner, it also teaches him to count, read, and listen more.  Music is a huge part of my life and I love bringing it into Brinner's.
One day we may spend making musical instruments from household items such as; a guitar from an empty cereal box, or a drum from a Crisco can.  Not only can Brinner plays these later, it also uses his creative mind to make the instrument by coloring, painting and gluing them.

Music also gets us moving! As part of my homeschool lesson plans we also have to make our bodies move. Dancing is a great physical activity for your child and we do it daily.
My husband plays the guitar but doesn't have much time to teach Brinner, so we found a great place online - TakeLessons.com  At TakeLessons your child, as young as 5, can learn to play an instrument.  TakeLessons will find a teacher for your child either online, to come to your home or you can go to the teachers studio.  There are over 2,800 cities across the U.S that have teachers who work for TakeLessons.  All you need to do to get started with them is go online, fill out the forms, pay for the lessons and a teacher will contact you and talk to you about what to do from there.  TakeLessons will find a teacher that is suitable for your child and if you are not 100% satisfied with the results, your money will be refunded.

Maybe your child doesn't want to play an instrument but he wants to learn to sing.  TakeLessons can help you there as well. They also have singing teachers to work with your child.  I know music is a wonderful way to express yourself and it is fun to learn and helps your child become more confident.  I encourage everyone to check out TakeLessons.com  this is a wonderful program and I believe you will be completely satisfied with what you experience.
(TakeLessons also offers courses for adults as well as children)
