There's A Monkey In My Backpack

I just read the best book titled, "There"s A Monkey In My Backpack".  This book touched home to me because I have a grandson, that I raise, who has a sensory disorder and this makes it hard for him to "fit in" with school and things like sports ect...
Anna goes to school and unlike the other 3rd  graders in her class, Anna has a monkey in her backpack.  The monkey tries  to get Anna in trouble in class and to get her to do disruptive things.  The monkey also helps Anna do good things and to complete her work.  You see the monkey is actually a learning disorder and Anna is afraid she will not finish the 3rd grade.

Cowboy Wisdom Book Review/Giveaway

The Era of great Cowboy wisdom may seem gone, but some of its words live forever in this collection of  200+ quotes, jokes, wise words and humor of the book, "Cowboy Wisdom" by Gerd De Ley.
Some of these words written in the book come from John Wayne, Gene Autry and Will Rodgers.  One of my favorite sayings is : "Never play cards with a man called Doc" by Nelson Algren.  Well, we all know that's true.   Will Rodgers gave the advice to "Never Kick a cow chip on a hot day." This makes great sense.

"The Man Who Carried Cash" a Book about Johnny Cash Review/ Giveaway

The Man Who Carried Cash cover

I just finished reading the wonderfully, informative book, " The Man Who Carried Cash", by Julie Chadwick and it was so good!  I did not want to finish the book because I didn't want the story to come to an end.  I am a huge Johnny Cash fan and this book told so much more about the man, how his career and life really happened than any I had seen or read.  I have seen movies about Mr. Cash's life and the movies didn't completely tell the whole story and the time line's didn't match.
This biography book about Johnny Cash is based on actual videos, recordings and calendar times of happening that were written when and where they took place.  Jonathan Holiff  is the son of Saul Holiff who was Johnny's manager and side-by-side companion for 13 years.

"The Day We Rode the Rainbow" a Book Review

I just read the cutest book to my grandsons titled, "The Day We Rode the Rainbow" ,by Jodi F. Mays and illustrated by M.J. Reinhardt.  This is the most colorful book with 3D stand out objects and gems.  It is so adorable!
This hardback book has 24 pages and is perfect for all ages.  If you are reading to them, it is good for really little kids ages 4-5, but ages 6-10 if they are reading it themselves.  I love the touchy feely add-ons throughout the story.
Your child will love this fun filled butterfly book and all their friends. It teaches self esteem and that even though we are all different, we are all unique and we should understand and except each other for our differences.

Un-AshamedHealing Our Brokeness and Finding Freedom From Shame Review/Giveaway

I was asked to review the book, "Un-Ashamed" and I agreed, but I truly had no idea what this book would mean to me.  Shame is everywhere and it is very hard to talk about.  But, it is a word, and a feeling that has been around since the beginning of time.  Adam & Eve were very shamed at their displeasing God when they ate from the forbidden tree.  After God punished them from the garden they both noticed they were naked, something that never bothered them before they sinned.  As hurt as God was at them, he still wrapped them in clothing.  Showing us that no matter what we do to shame ourselves God is there to wrap us up in his love and forgiveness.
I lost my daughter in November in a tragic death, she took her own life.  This left my family and I devastated.  Was I the reason? Did I say something to push her to do it?  I was so ashamed of myself for some of the things I had said that were possibly not the right words and I was ashamed for not truly praying for her to change her ways.  I sometimes still blame myself for her death.  I read some wonderful healing words in this book that made me feel more un-ashamed than I originally did.  I learned that God's grace saved me from my wrongful doings, because I would always pray that she would change and that God would help me through it.  God's grace intervened and removed my shame when he died on that cross 2000 years ago.
